Is this true? I don't know, but the juxtaposition of "The Thinker" on the crapper with a smart phone is a stroke of street art brilliance On this site stood "The Curtain Theatre" <1577-1599> William Shakespeare first performed "Henry V" and "Romeo & Juliet" and acted on stage himself While my self-guided street art tour already led me to some "historical" places, this corner of Hewett Street in Shoreditch got me excited and made me laugh I followed the itinerary of THIS self-guided walking tour, but I made a few worthwhile wild turns and detours along the route Below are MORE street art highlights I found in East London *I posted Part 1 of my street art tour yesterday I hear that London street art is "off the wall" A friendly face greets me on a boarded-up window Big Bird's British cousin takes up an entire wall UGH! Product placement Does everything have to be commercialized? BUT WAIT ... THERE'S MORE!
Check tomorrow for the FINAL installment of my London street art safari ... UNLESS you want to miss out on Banksy It'll be a proper "exit through the gift shop"

It's FREE and OUTSIDE FYI: directions to the self-guided tour I followed were written by Laura Porter —she tweets @AboutLondon This street art installation mocks the many blue plaques that dot London's historical sites OPEN YOUR MIND! Street art takes many forms Spray painted stencils are classic, but London street art also has:
Tomorrow I'll post more pics of London's form-shattering, world-class street art Check back tomorrow for Street Art Safari: Part 2 |
