I found this unusual poster in the basement of the Harvard Bookstore.
As a muppet fan, I immediately recognized its particular historic significance. "The Conformist" is a 1951 novel by the Italian author Alberto Moravia. It deals with the details the life and the desire for normalcy by a government official during Italy's fascist period. When famed director Bernardo Bertolucci adapted the novel to a film in 1970, the Sesame Workshop began a campaign for Grover Monster to play the leading role of Marcello Clerici. Understandably, the blue monster lost the part to Frenchman Jean-Louis Trintignant. This poster is a relic from a forgotten past; it is a glimmer of a bizzaro history that could have been.
