Soren Launbjerg is the principal at the International People's School in Helsingør —but you might know him as ... THE VOICE OF ALADDIN in the Danish version of the Disney movie In that video he is singing John Lennon's classic "Imagine" Here's a link to his performance in Aladdin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3CAlpvoeg4 OR just watch the video below And here he is leading the crowd in the song "Donna, Donna" It's a translated Yiddish song, but you might know the Joan Baez version better ALSO ... I'll be in Hamburg, Germany until late Saturday night
That means I'll also be AWAY from my computer So don't be dismayed if there are not any updates till Sunday But never fear, if that is the case, I will MORE than make up for the lost time

From that thrift store down the road in Helsingør
—underground at the International People's School— and only open 1 hour a week Stopping by an endangered houseboat on a tour of Copenhagen's south harbor with Mikkel Hall Here's a close-up of that house boat — I wouldn't mind making it my pad There are about a dozen houseboats nearby this one in Copenhagen's harbor. According to Mikkel, recently the houseboats have come under threat as developers continue to devour all remaining harbor property Copenhagen's harbor used to be a polluted, industrial wasteland, but today it has been revitalized. Still, the south side of the harbor is nowhere near as vibrant as the north side. The south side is filled with unsightly, inefficient office buildings, a few so-so apartments, a tacky mall, a natural gas plant ... AND the houseboats! If development continues (which it will), these houseboats are a cticially endangered species Here are two more houseboats that seem like cool real estate Does it makes sense to live on a houseboat when the water is frozen?!
And that kids, is how you fight windmills. Joachim Steenstrup, head of communications at DONG Energy Wind Power, ran through a few basic powerpoint slides before fielding questions from my European Sustainable Development class
Our visit to DONG headquarters was rather timely. In the past week, a Goldman Sachs investment deal with the state-run energy has led to a political crisis in Denmark. I'd go more into detail, but this Bloomberg article provides a good summary. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-01-29/goldman-1-5-billion-bid-imperils-danish-government-re-election.html BTW: The Danes don't find the name "DONG" very funny It is an acronym for Danish Oil & Natural Gas **** Since today's blog post was a little serious — check out this sweater for sale at a fair trade store near Nørreport And in related news -- I now have the perfect costume for "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Yeti" Bring me the head of a polar bear! ... but keep it behind bars, in case it's still vicious. ... and if you wouldn't mind, place a few small porcelain polar bear heads on top.
.... oh! and put the leg of some unknown three-toed animal by its right ear. .... and you might consider resting a tusk of some sort beside it's left ear. ... if you really wanna be a champ, sprinkle some dead brown leaves as close as possible to the window sill. This window display is greater than the sum of it's parts. Of course, I have no idea as to the meaning of that sum.
